History and Culture
Describing an all white outfit as "Flow Santero" was most popular when Bad Bunny did it in his Song "200mph". Before that Cubans where known to be dressed in white a lot, it wasn't known why, though.
The cause is found in the afrocuban culture: People believe that dressing in white clothes attracts good vibes, blessings and positivity. The roots of these believes are found in La Santería. People practicing it are called Santeros. Hence "Flow Santero" is a Style (Flow = Style) of Santeros.
Santeros are those practicing the Santería, an old culture and religion that was brought by Yoruba people during colonialism to Cuba. During the spanish opression people
in Cuba had to hide believe systems that weren't christian, so Yoruba names, prayers and greetings were coverd with spanish names, prayers and greetings.
The Santería is a vivid mixture of its historical, cultural and religious influences and is still strong and a growing community.
A main pilar of the culture has always been to dress white. Santeros believe that dressing white will calm your enegry and open doors for you. It's supposed to bring good vibes you way.
After so many decades and centuries of censorship, criminalization and hiding FLOW SANTERO wants to present itsself proudly and take a stand. For all of our roots, all of our identities and cultures. No matter where your're from, no matter how you look or what you believe in: FLOW SANTERO are good vibes to wear.
